UNs is also organizing Asia Pacific Week on Climate Change and the 14th Session: UN Convention to Combat Desertification (COP 14) in September. All these events are very important to the whole world. Therefore, all the development actors including member states, Civil Society Major Groups, and Stakeholders, think tanks are keeping their eyes on those events.
In this background, we Nepalese Civil Society Major Groups and Stakeholders (MGS) are convening a process-based national event “Nepal People’s Forum on Sustainable Development 2019” on 21-22 August 2019 in Kathmandu. The theme of the event is “Accelerating civil society engagement: Realizing SDGs in Action”. The main objective of this event is to discuss five agendas Climate Change, Combatting Desertification, Universal Health Coverage, Financing For Development, and the 2030 Agenda/SDGs.
The event will enrich the knowledge of Civil Society Major Groups and Stakeholders and we will come up with the People’ Statement and an advocacy plan. So, that we could engage in UN events effectively. Also, we have planned to discuss with high-level government delegates, ministries, parliament committees, and the National Planning Commission. Five organizations are serving as the secretariat of this forum.
The event will have the presence of representatives from ministries, government bodies, parliament, international agencies, Civil Society MGSs, and media persons.
